Oregon Coast Mosaic Workshops featuring Visiting Instructors

Spend a weekend of beach time, learn new mosaic skills and make new friends!  While you’re busy learning, family members can enjoy other fun activities in Lincoln City, like: searching for glass floats on the beach (made by local artists), antique shopping, surfing, whale watching, kite flying and crabbing/clamming. Check out our helpful visitor info site for lodging options and other planning info. 

Garden Mosaic (Birdbath) Workshop

with visiting instructor Jennifer Kuhns

Sat-Sun, July 27 & 28  – 10am-5pm Sat, 10am-4pm Sun

Create vibrant, colorful mosaic art for the garden! This class will cover the basics for exterior and garden mosaics. Students will construct a small birdbath from a terracotta pot and base, and adhere glass mosaic in a radiating pattern. 

This class is great for the beginner as we will be covering tools, cutting techniques, and mosaic design, and is also appropriate for the student who has already experimented with interior or craft mosaics and would like to expand their knowledge to include exterior, garden or permanent installations.

Create a Glass Mosaic Nightlight

Sunday, March 24, 11am to 1pm

In this fun short workshop, make a glass-on-glass round mosaic nightlight with stained glass. You’ll learn to safely cut glass with easy tools and shape into a design of your own or use one of my templates. Leave your piece with me for grouting, and you can pick up the next day, or arrange for me to ship ($5 extra, paid on day of workshop). Your finished nightlight will make a lovely handmade addition to any room of your home!

$30 includes materials and use of tools for this project. Age 18+ please.  Pre-registration required, 8 students max. each session.

Oregon Coast Community College – Community Education 

Inspired by the Farmers’ Market 
Sunday, June 2 – 9 am to 3 pm

Inspired by the opening of the season, we’ll explore the colors and textures of the farmers’ market just outside the doors of our studio to create a wall hanging (8×10) mosaic.

Spring Flowers Mosaic Suncatcher 
Saturday, May 4 – 12:30 am to 4:30 pm

Using a 8” circular substrate, you will make a glass-on-glass mosaic suncatcher with translucent stained glass. Bring a photo of your favorite flower or use one of the instructor’s flower templates.

A one-day dive into my favorite mosaic material– smalti, the sumptuous, intensely-colored and textured glass of Italy and more recently, Mexico.  Explore the unique qualities of each and the ways to cut and apply this special material.

Mosaic mentoring on your project. For students with previous mosaic experience: use my tools and studio space. You bring materials or purchase (limited). Need a project? Pick one of several easy projects and purchase those materials separately, guidance as needed.
