As part of the very first Lincoln City studio tour known as Art on the Edge, I’ll be welcoming newcomers and old friends to my workshop. For this fun event, I wanted to include an activity for visitors to experience mosaics, no matter their skill level.
So I thought… let’s make hearts! In a wonderful project designed by mosaic artist Jennifer Kuhns, a mural celebrating diversity will be created by willing hands from school children to professional artists. (The image shown below is her original concept, posted on Facebook). This project is all-volunteer and will be installed in a public venue near Olympia WA. Altogether, the mural will include 1200 hearts!

During Art on the Edge tour days, I’m providing all the materials so you can make a heart for the rainbow, and all the hearts we make will be shipped off to join others from around the globe. If you have at least 30 minutes to sit down and work (preferably more), you’ll get to “try out” my studio including tools and beautiful stained glass materials. You’ll get a glimpse into mosaic-making… and hopefully plan to come back for a class!
