Chiaroscuro mosaic exhibit heads to wine country

Posted on Feb 7, 2018

In December 2017, I was thrilled to join a group of Pacific Northwest mosaic artists to present a group exhibit responding to the theme, “Chiaroscuro: Casting Shadows in Mosaic.” This exhibition explores the nature of light and dark, how shadows are cast by the materials in the works, and how mosaic materials either reflect or absorb light. The NW Mosaic Art Alliance includes artists from Oregon and Washington.

Our first locale was my hometown of Lincoln City, OR and the show was very well received. The work of nine artists showed off a wide diversity of style, technique and materials within our shared medium. So, after this success… we’re heading to Oregon’s wine country!

Opening March 3, 2018 at Wallow Gallery in Carlton, OR our group will exhibit previous works along with new pieces, and one new artist! In addition, members will collaborate on a mosaic mural project led by Mark Brody and Jennifer Kuhns. This show runs through May 29. Learn more about the gallery here

Opening August 11, 2018 at Ten Oaks Gallery in McMinnville, OR we will present the final showing on this particular theme. This show runs through Sept. 30. Learn more about the gallery here

Look for new works in each location, and we hope to see you there!
